Head or Tails – VALENTINE’S DAY WINS!!

ST Valentine still manages to have Cupid Shoot that Arrow wherever Love finds itself….
Without fail, every year, the fourteenth day of the month of February has millions of souls across the world presenting their loved ones with candy, flowers, chocolates and other lovely gifts. Most countries, restaurants and picnic spots are seen to be filled with couples who are eager to celebrate their relationship and the joy of their togetherness through delicious cuisines. There hardly seems to be a young man or woman who is not keen to make the most of the day.

To this day it is not exactly known why the 14th of February is known as Valentine’s Day or if the centuries old Romantic Valentine really had anything to do with this day. For sure we know, is that the history of Valentine’s Day is impossible to be traced from any historian, novels and the veil of centuries gone by has made the origin behind this day more difficult to trace.

What we do know is that there are two sides to this coin and both Retailer and Romanticism’s wins on the same day with neither party unhappy of their parts herein.
On the one side we have your Retailer (Restaurant, Café, Jewelry & Shop Owners) and the other side the Consumer who prefers at this moment to be called The Romantic. The Romantic searches for that perfect, ideal gift that confirms the strength of his / her passion for their partner while the Retailer seeks to amass the highest margins of profit possible.

This happens to be the only time known that The Romantic (Consumer) never argues about price, they very seldom ask for bargains and if anything, he prefers spending as much as possible. The value of his Gift in his mind, confirms how much and how deep his love really is based on his Finances. The Romantic will spend all their disposable cash and credit cards on an ever highest level of consumption.

It is one of the few times that Hallmark receives an overwhelming demand for their Traditional St Valentines Cards. I find it beautiful that worldwide beautiful souls still resort to using the traditional posting system to send off their Valentine’s Day Cards to the Love of their life even if it’s only for that moment. That brief moment when the receiver of a Valentine’s Day Card opens this with no understanding of the Sender but sure appreciates the gesture that somewhere out there, is a Loved Heart that finds you beautiful and attractive. Tradition speaks of your Valentine not suppose to know where their gift comes from but as centuries passed, this too has changed.

There was a beautiful time when the aged old, almost extinct these days Postal Delivery man, would spend the entire day on his bicycle delivering Cards, Gifts, Flowers and all forms of Love possible. In this Modern Internet error, we find that Hallmark Cards & Gifts strong successful presence continues to grow as they depend on the Valentines Commercial Value as well as Weddings and other traditional Celebrations. Not only Hallmark Cards & Gifts but florist seem to smiling from ear to ear as the traditional Roses exceed their market rate and value per stem,.

St Valentine’s Day is also a beautiful moment for Fresh Loving Hearts to engage in confirming their love for each other by way of Marriage Proposals and accepting the Engagement of your beautiful partner’s hand in life. On this date, Many find themselves successfully arriving at their One Year Anniversary and tie the knot on this beautiful occasion too. What an incredible time for Jewelers worldwide as they increase the price of Gold, Platinum & Precious Stones with no regard to the pocket of The Romantic who once again, purchases the most expensive jewelry he cant afford.

On St Valentine’s day we find that person from all walks of life, from the highest money earner to the one who barely makes enough to survive, yearning to send the most beautiful flowers their money can buy. I have seen prices ranging from 1 dollar per rose to the highest price ever seen in Harrods in London one rose stalk could cost you about to 35 Pounds each. Rose Florists are kept in business for St Valentine’s celebrations and the rest of the year, they rely on birthdays, Fathers Day, Mother’s Day etc to survive.

As you can see, it doesn’t matter what industry you are in, if it’s Service related, you will find more reasons to remember the date: 14th February and you prepare and base your budget on this even though Christmas & New Year could have killed your savings.

Even if you don’t have someone who could spoil you, you have the freedom to spoil yourself and it has almost become acceptable for singles to form a Valentine Dinner Party to not feel isolated on this event that formalizes LOVE!

The reality is that we don’t need Valentine’s Day, Christmas, Easter, Birthdays, Mother or Father’s Day celebrations to wish each other well. Life is an occasion and we should wish each other well all the time, sending Love without fail.

We are all born from Love, We all come from Love and it is Love who brought us to the careers of our choices, Love brought us to the environment that brings us Joy so let’s continue to celebrate the greatest gift we could ever receive at Birth – LIFE & LOVE!
